Here are two sites that offer fine advice for musicians trying to make a go of it in this big fat world: One Music in the UK, and StarPolish ("helping artists help themselves") here in the US: everything from contracts to merchandising to recording to touring, interviews with experts, etc, etc. The help is out there.
