From a press release:
- "MP3.com's New Track Attack," an unprecedented online music event that will showcase rare and never-before-released music and videos from some of the biggest names in popular music. Record labels representing all five major music companies will each promote their artists on MP3.com on their own day of the week — with Wednesday, November 6 featuring a special tribute to that evening's Country Music Awards. All the exclusive digital music action will occur at http://www.mp3.com/newtrackattack through November 15.
"MP3.com originally launched in November 1997 with a handful of independent musicians looking to promote themselves on the Web," said Derrick Oien, the president of MP3.com's parent company, Vivendi Universal Net USA's music and media group. "Since then, MP3.com's music collection and online audience have both grown explosively to be among the Internet's largest. We recently added our 250,000th artist — and now feature emerging acts side-by-side with established chart-toppers and Grammy award winners. For millions of music fans and recording artists, MP3.com has become synonymous with digital music itself."
