Furthermore- She & I

Yes, I realize that Jeff Petermann reviewed this cd already right here, however, I want to offer my own review of it.

Rap has never been a style to appeal to me at all. However, Furthermore's song "Are You the Walrus?" was the standout track on a sampler cd featuring mostly punk and alternative bands. So I bought the cd that song was on, Flourecent Jellyfish.

Flourecent Jellyfish was the duo's debut album. It was filled with catchy raps, curtosey of Fisher, and angelic singing, by Lee. "Are You The Walrus" was the cd's best and most memorable song, with the rest of the cd not really connecting with me.

Fast forward to 2002. I am 2 years older and wiser. Now, I like most of the songs on Flourecent Jellyfish. Augest is the slated release date for She & I. Augest comes and Tooth and Nail, the label, delays the release. Apprehension builds (for me, at least) and I'm finally given a new date. January 2003.

Finally the day of joy comes and this cd sneaks into stores. This cd picks up where Flourecent Jellyfish left off, in the general sound, however, it improves quality by leaps and bounds. The rhymes are smooth and fast, with Lee's voice lending it's enchanting qualities. With Flourecent Jellyfish, the lyrics were undeniably cheesy. Thankfully, the lyrics are a lot better here.

This cd has a big sound. Other rap cds may offer good bass, or they may have the rapping prominantly in the front, but this cd is perfect in everyway. The bass is there, the vocals are there, everything.

peace.

I agree with everything you have shared on this group. The music is incredible. I actually found them by accident. Now that I have their cd's I have seen nothing new on the group since the release. Not even information on them splitting up... Do you have any idea on where they are, what they are doing, or any way to contact them. Their listed website is no longer up. I appreciate anything you could share.
