Having compiled the raw votes, I can tell you that Stanley's record was not mentioned on any ballot at all. Indeed, I have to confess to not having heard his album yet. This is a bad sin on my part, for which I will have to do penance.

I don't even know who does this, but I need to help spread the word on the incredible "Freedom's Child" by Billy Joe Shaver. An amazing "record" by one of the preeminent (and largely unknown) songwriters of the outlaw country/americana genre. The new record is an amazing mix of every form of country you've ever heard. Although "Home" is a great CD for the Chicks, "Freedom's Child" is far and away the best country CD of the year.
