The Blood Brothers - Burn Piano Island, Burn
Published May 13, 2003
Tired of generic radio-friendly fusions of pop/punk/indie/emo/scream rock? Yeah so am I. The Blood Brothers are a breath of fresh air in the midst of the stinking pile of crap that is rock today.
Noisy guitars, innovative lyrics, and loud, fast-paced drums accentuate the raw and somewhat uncontrolled energy of Burn Piano Island, Burn. The Blood Brothers know their strengths and they push those to the front of the line with every track on the CD. The Blood Brothers are a little reminiscent of Rocket from the Crypt with a more aggressive approach. They are abrasive, energetic, and a little creepy. They keep you guessing and wondering what's next.
There's nothing worse than seeing a band live and being disappointed in the vocalist because their record was overly slicked up and produced by some computer. You can tell this wouldn't be the case with The Blood Brothers. The vocals particularly stand out. They're chaotic and bare-boned. If you liked the vocals on Glassjaw's Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Silence or some of the screamier parts of Finch's What It Is To Burn, you'll be all about some Blood Brothers.
The Blood Brothers are sure to make their mark up there with the big boys soon. Pick up Burn Piano Island, Burn for a change of pace. It'll get your foot tapping or your ass bouncing. Either way, you won't be disappointed.

I am going to see Blood Brothers this Sunday at the Troubador in Los Angeles. I can't wait. But please don't ever compare them to Finch or Glassjaw. Drive Thru records is for fat girls and boys with uncontrolable acne.
Haha good one. But actually I was comparing the vocals. That's about it.

i love this cd.
lots.
peace.
