A Closer Look
I need to see the film again. I need to examine what The Architect said, word for word. I have trouble understanding what exactly the implications of Neo's choice truly were, both within the original context of the matrix, and in my new theoretical concept of the uber-matrix. Maybe I'll have to revise everything I've said, or maybe just parts. In any case, this film has baked my noodle far more than the first ever did, and more quickly too, I think. Sure, I wish that the underground rave scene was a bit shorter. But while I thought that dragged on, maybe it was just because I was slightly uncomfortable sitting next to a ten-year-old boy. The rest, I wouldn't change a thing. Yes, there were long stretches of philosophy. They were needed, and obviously set up what comes next as well as explaining the actions of characters within the film. Yes, the action was different. The burly brawl scene was both better and worse than any of the fights in the first film. I'll take the "better" part and leave the rest.

The Matrix: Reloaded - Warner Brothers (In Theaters)
Genre: Action / Science Fiction
Watchability: I thought it flowed smoothly, though some scenes might go on just a little longer than they need to.
Philosophy: Complex. A question of pretdeterminism vs choice, free will vs fate, with some questions about the nature of reality as well.
Suitability: At the same time less graphically violent than the first and more deserving of the 'R' rating.
Overall: 5/5

MATRIX RELOADED SPOILER: I meant to mention, but then forgot, the interesting possibility that Neo did not actually stop those sentinels after all. In fact, this was the first thing I said after exiting the theater - Did Neo actually stop those sentinels, or did the ship coming over the hill set off an EMP at just the right time? Shades of A Case Of Conscience float through my mind.
