Radio Free BC - Scott Andrew LePera
Published May 30, 2003
Radio Free Blogcritics is featuring another sparkling new artist, Scott Andrew LePera. As his own website says, "Scott Andrew and the Walkingbirds are apparently some kind of lo-fi, DIY urban acoustic pop and weirdo country thing."
After ten frustrating years of being in and out of various bands, including three years with almost no musical output, it appeared that singer-guitarist Scott Andrew LePera had indeed hung up his aspirations of being a career musician for good. Then in 2001, with aid of a cheap computer and a single microphone, LePera recorded his first solo outing, a folk-rock anthem entitled Gravel Road Requiem, and posted it as an MP3 to his website. The response was immediate. "A lot of people knew I was a songwriter, but in a not-so-serious hobbyist kind of way," LePera recounts. "Suddenly I had people saying 'um, I didn't know you were that good, please make more.' That was all the push I needed." LePera then began a steady creative cycle, recording new songs in his home studio and releasing them on his website for feedback from listeners across the globe.
Now you can hear Scott Andrew LaPera for yourself, right here on Radio Free Blogcritics. Simply visit Andromeda-powered Radio Free Blogcritics and click on the little green "play" button on the right to start listening right away. It's free and easy!
While you're at it, visit the blog and poke around. You'll find lyrics for most of the songs, and lots more, too. You can even suggest a name for an untitled song!
